# V1 Get Paper

`GET /v1/papers/{arxiv_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.scholarfeed.org` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.scholarfeed.org/v1/papers/{arxiv_id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Retrieve a single paper by arXiv ID.

Handles versioned IDs (e.g. 2401.12345v2 — strips version suffix for lookup).
Returns lean PublicPaperResponse without frontend-specific state fields.

When format=bibtex, returns {bibtex: "<entry>", count: 1, not_found: []} using
_paper_to_bibtex — same shape as POST /papers/bibtex for uniformity with the
v3 get_paper(format='bibtex') MCP wrapper (plan 05).

Rate limit: 60/minute per API key.

## Path parameters

- `arxiv_id` string, required

## Query parameters

- `fields` string, nullable: Comma-separated list of fields to return. If omitted, returns the lean 12-field default unless verbose=true.
- `verbose` boolean: If true, returns the full paper shape. Default false returns the lean set.
- `format` string: Response format: 'json' (default) or 'bibtex' (returns a single BibTeX entry as {bibtex: string}).
