# Update topology metadata

`POST /api/v1/topology/{id}/metadata`

Lightweight endpoint for editing topology name and parent. Instead of sending
the entire topology (which includes all hosts, ip_addresses, services, etc.),
only sends the metadata fields.
Fixes HTTP 413 errors on metadata edit operations for large topologies.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- TopologyMetadataUpdate — Lightweight request type for updating topology metadata. Used for editing topology name/parent - instead of sending the entire topology (which includes all hosts, ip_addresses, services, etc.), only sends the metadata fields. Fixes HTTP 413 errors on metadata edit operations.
  - `name` string, required — New name for the topology
  - `network_id` string, uuid, required — Network ID for authorization
  - `parent_id` string, uuid, nullable — New parent topology ID (optional)
