# Delete a snapshot

`DELETE /snapshots/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://sandbox-as-a-service.com/v1`
- URL: `https://sandbox-as-a-service.com/v1/snapshots/{id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Deletes the snapshot immediately instead of waiting for retention, and stops all storage billing for its image. Safe to retry: deleting an already-deleted snapshot returns `200`.

## Response `200`

Snapshot deleted.

## Other responses

- `202`: Deletion accepted and completing in the background.
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `404`: No snapshot with that id for this account.
- `409`: Snapshot capture is still in progress.
