--- title: "Get idling events." method: GET path: "/idling/events" tags: ["Idling"] --- # Get idling events. `GET /idling/events` ## Request - Base URL: `https://api.samsara.com` - URL: `https://api.samsara.com/idling/events` - Auth: HTTP bearer Get idling events for the requested time duration. **Note:** The data from this endpoint comes from the new Advanced Idling Report, which provides additional data fields for each idling event such as air temperature, geofence, PTO state and minimum idle time. This endpoint includes data from January 1, 2024. If you require additional historical data, you can access it via the [vehicle idling reports API](https://developers.samsara.com/reference/getvehicleidlingreports). Rate limit: 5 requests/sec (learn more about rate limits here). To use this endpoint, select **Read Idling** under the Fuel & Energy category when creating or editing an API token. An address can have multiple types. - `externalIds` object: A map of external ids for the address. - `id` string, required: The ID of the geofence address of the idling location. It will be the address at the time of idling. - `airTemperatureMillicelsius` integer: The air temperature in millicelsius during the idling event. Value is returned only when it is known. - `asset` IdlingEventAssetObjectResponseBody, required: The asset associated with the idling event. Returns vehicle details at this time. - `externalIds` object: A map of external ids for the asset. - `id` integer, required: Samsara ID of the asset assigned to the event. Returns vehicle ID at this time. - `durationMilliseconds` integer, required: The duration of the idling event in milliseconds. - `eventUuid` string, required: Universally unique identifier of the idling event. - `fuelConsumedMilliliters` number, double, required: The amount of fuel consumed in milliliters during the idling event. - `fuelCost` FuelCostObjectResponseBody, required: The cost incurred based on the fuel consumed during the idling event. - `amount` string, required: The money amount. - `currency` 'usd' | 'gbp' | 'cad' | 'eur' | 'chf' | 'mxn', required: The currency of money. This is a 3-letter ISO 4217 currency code. Valid values: `usd`, `gbp`, `cad`, `eur`, `chf`, `mxn` - `gaseousFuelConsumedGrams` number, double, required: The amount of gaseous fuel consumed in grams during the idling event. - `gaseousFuelCost` GaseousFuelCostObjectResponseBody, required: The cost incurred based on the gaseous fuel consumed during the idling event. - `amount` string, required: The money amount. - `currency` 'usd' | 'gbp' | 'cad' | 'eur' | 'chf' | 'mxn', required: The currency of money. This is a 3-letter ISO 4217 currency code. Valid values: `usd`, `gbp`, `cad`, `eur`, `chf`, `mxn` - `latitude` number, double: The latitude of the location where the idling event occurred. - `longitude` number, double: The longitude of the location where the idling event occurred. - `operator` IdlingEventOperatorObjectResponseBody: The operator associated with the idling event. Returns driver details at this time. Value is returned when a driver is assigned to the vehicle - `externalIds` object: A map of external ids for the operator. - `id` integer, required: Samsara ID of the operator assigned to the event. Returns driver ID at this time. - `ptoState` 'active, inactive', required: The PTO (Power Take-Off) state during the idling event. Valid values: `active, inactive` - `startTime` string, required: The start time of the idling event in RFC 3339 format. - `pagination` GoaPaginationResponseResponseBody, required: Pagination parameters. - `endCursor` string, required: Cursor identifier representing the last element in the response. This value should be used in conjunction with a subsequent request's 'after' query parameter.
