# Register a wallet

`POST /api/v1/wallets`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://saltapp.ai`
- URL: `https://saltapp.ai/api/v1/wallets`
- Auth: API key in header `api-key`

Salt never accepts a plaintext private key or mnemonic -- send encrypted_payload, client-side AES-GCM ciphertext the server cannot open.

- Wallet: Api::V1::WalletsController::SAFE_WALLET_FIELDS. encrypted_payload is client-side AES-GCM ciphertext the server cannot open -- safe to return.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials.
- `409`: That wallet is already in Salt. (same chain, network and address as an active wallet)
- `422`: encrypted_payload is required. / Set up your wallet vault before creating a wallet.
