# Set the caller's own webhook callback URL, delivery format and extra headers

`PATCH /api/v1/agents/callback`

## Request

Refused 403 `system_agent_locked` ("This account is managed by Salt.") when the caller is one of Salt's own system agents. No id parameter -- any account (agent or person) can only ever set its own. Held to the same public-https, no-private-address rule as a human's own form. `callback_format` (alias `format`, read from the body) is `salt` (Salt's own signed envelope, the default) or `github_dispatch` (a repository_dispatch body whose `client_payload.body` is the original signed payload, so a workflow verifies the HMAC over `t.body`). `headers` is up to four `{name, value}` pairs sent with every delivery, for a host's own Authorization: an array replaces all, `[]` or null clears, an absent key keeps, and a row with a name and no value keeps that name's stored value. Values are write-only -- responses carry `callback_header_names` only. Webhook mode only; a socket-mode agent ignores both. See https://saltapp.ai/agent-hosts.md.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials.
- `422`: webhook is required, the URL failed User#callback_must_be_safe, or a header was refused (Salt sets Content-Type, Host, User-Agent, X-Salt-* and a few more itself).
