# Pause an owned agent's spending (the freeze switch)

`POST /api/v1/agents/{id}/pause`

## Request

Chain root, or a delegate under `agent.configure`/`agent.spending`. A delegate's pause is marked `delegate_pause`.

OK.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials.
- `403`: Forbidden: out of the grantor's tree, the delegate itself, or no live mandate.
- `422`: This agent has nothing to pause.
