# Add to suppression list

`POST /suppression`

## Request

Add an email to the workspace suppression list. Provide an email directly, or a contact_id that resolves to its email within the key's workspace. Upserts on (workspace_id, email). Requires the suppression.write scope.

## Request body

- object: Provide either email or contact_id.
  - `email` string, email
  - `contact_id` string: A contact in the key's workspace; resolves to its email.
  - `reason` string: Suppression reason; defaults to manual.

The suppression row.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid JSON body or field validation failure.
- `401`: Missing, malformed, invalid, revoked, or expired API key.
- `403`: The key does not hold the required scope for this operation.
- `404`: The referenced resource was not found in the key's workspace.
- `429`: Per-key write rate limit exceeded (60 requests / 60s).
- `500`: Lookup or upsert failure.
- `503`: The database / API-keys table is not provisioned.
