# Get Candidate

`GET /api/candidates/{candidate_id}`

Get a single candidate by ID.

Successful Response

- CandidateRead: Read shape for candidate rows. Deliberately carries NO availability vocabulary validator. This is the ``response_model`` for the recruiter list/detail endpoints, so it must accept **every value the database can legally hold** — including the system-only ``'stale'`` marker written by the bench staleness tick (``bench_staleness_service``, migration ``w2a4stale``) and legacy NULLs. A response_model rejects the whole response when one row fails, so a read-side validator here turns a single stale candidate into a 500 for the entire list. Write-side vocabulary enforcement lives on the ``Candidate`` subclass below.
