# Trigger CI workflow for a release-candidate step

`POST /app/{appId}/release/{releaseId}/stepRun/{stepRunId}/triggerCI`

## Request

- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Trigger the CI build workflow for a release-candidate step run on a given release. This endpoint is for FlightPath enabled apps only, and the targeted step run must correspond to a step config of archetype `releaseCandidate`.

## Path parameters

- `appId` string, required
- `releaseId` string, required
- `stepRunId` string, required

## Response `200`

The CI workflow was triggered successfully

- TriggerCIWorkflowEntity
  - `triggeredBuilds` TriggeredBuildEntity[]: The list of builds that were triggered as part of this request
    - `stepConfigId` string: The id of the step config that the CI workflow was triggered for
    - `buildId` string: The build identifier returned by the CI provider, if a build was triggered
    - `workflowDisplayableName` string: The displayable name of the CI workflow that was triggered
    - `resolvedBranchName` string: The branch name the CI workflow was triggered on
  - `message` string: A status message describing the result of the trigger request

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request response
- `404`: Resource not found response
