# Delete (tombstone) a mailbox

`DELETE /mailboxes/v1/{mailbox_id}`

Soft-deletes a mailbox. The address is released. Lifecycle-gated for non-active projects.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid authentication. Run402-originated JSON bodies use the canonical ErrorEnvelope.
