# Read File

`POST /api/v1/retrieval/files/read`

Read the parsed text content of a specific file.

## Query parameters

- `project_id` string, uuid, nullable
- `organization_id` string, uuid, nullable

## Cookies

- `session` string, nullable

## Request body

- FileReadParams — Read parsed content of a specific file.
  - `index_id` string, required — ID of the index the file belongs to.
  - `file_id` string, required — ID of the file to read.
  - `offset` integer — Starting character offset.
  - `max_length` integer, nullable — Maximum number of characters to read from the offset.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- FileReadResult — File read result.
  - `content` string, required — Parsed text content of the file.

- `422` — Validation Error
