# List job sectors (deprecated — use /signals/industries)

`GET /api/v1/signals/job-sectors`

> **Deprecated.**

**Legacy.** The job signals (Job Offers, Republished Job Offers, Recruitment Campaign) now take LinkedIn industry names in `industryFilters` and `companyIndustryExcluded`, exactly like every other signal — call `GET /api/v1/signals/industries` instead. This endpoint remains so that integrations built against the older sector vocabulary keep working: a sector id listed here is still accepted and applied unchanged.

**Input:** `search` (optional query parameter — case-insensitive substring on the sector name or its label, e.g. `consult`) and `limit` (optional, 1-500, defaults to 100).

**Output:** `total` (number of sectors matched) and `sectors` — each with `name` (the exact string to submit), `category` (the broad family it belongs to) and `subCategory` (its readable label). `companyCount` is deprecated and always null.

A common mistake: putting a *company* name (`Accenture`, `Capgemini`) in `companyIndustryExcluded`. That field takes industries only — to exclude named companies, list their domains in `excludedWebsites` instead.

## Query parameters

- `search` string, nullable: Case-insensitive substring filter on the sector name.
- `limit` integer: Maximum sectors to return. Defaults to 100.

## Response `200`

Sectors ordered by company count, largest first.

- object: The sector vocabulary for job-signal filters.
  - `total` integer, required: Number of sectors returned.
  - `sectors` object[], required: Sectors ordered by company count, largest first.
    - `name` string, required: Exact value to pass in `industryFilters` / `companyIndustryExcluded`.
    - `category` string, nullable: Broad family this sector belongs to, e.g. 'Consulting / Audit'.
    - `subCategory` string, nullable: The sector's readable label within its category.
    - `companyCount` integer, nullable: Deprecated. Always null; volume counts are no longer published.

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded. Retry after the number of seconds in the `Retry-After` response header.
