# List industry filter values

`GET /api/v1/signals/industries`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.rodz.io` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.rodz.io/api/v1/signals/industries`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

The vocabulary accepted by `industryFilters` and `excludedIndustryFilters` on every signal that filters on a company's industry.

**Input:** all optional — `search` (substring on the name), `kind` (`industry` or `category`), `category` (the industries a filter on that category accepts), `limit`.

**Output:** `industries`, categories first then industries alphabetically, each with `name` (copy it verbatim — matching is exact and category names are case-sensitive), `kind`, `path` (a filter on an industry also accepts every industry below it in `path`, and excluding an industry excludes them too) and, for a category, `industryCount`: how many industries a filter on it accepts, computed with the same rule the signals apply. Ten names ("Manufacturing", "Retail", "Wholesale", …) are both an industry and a category; sent as a filter they act as the category, so they are listed once, as a category. Listing a category together with industries it already covers adds nothing — the create and update responses warn when you do.

## Query parameters

- `search` string, nullable: Case-insensitive substring filter on the name.
- `kind` string, nullable: Return only `industry` or only `category`. Omit for both.
- `category` string, nullable: Return only the industries a filter on this category accepts - the list behind its `industryCount`. Exact spelling as published (category names are case-sensitive).
- `limit` integer, nullable: Optional cap. Omit it to get the whole vocabulary.

## Response `200`

Every value accepted by industryFilters.

- object: The industry vocabulary for signal filters.
  - `total` integer, required: Number of entries returned.
  - `industries` object[], required: Categories first, then industries alphabetically.
    - `name` string, required: Exact value to pass in `industryFilters` / `excludedIndustryFilters`. Copy it verbatim — matching is exact, so a near-miss like `Software development` matches nothing and the signal quietly produces no leads.
    - `kind` string, required: `industry` for a single LinkedIn industry, or `category` for a broad grouping that matches every industry inside it. Filtering on a category is the easy way to cover a whole sector without listing its industries.
    - `path` string, nullable: For an `industry`, its position in LinkedIn's taxonomy, parents first. Null for a `category`.
    - `industryCount` integer, nullable: For a `category`, how many published industries a filter on it accepts - the same rule the signals apply, so it can exceed the industries listed under it in the taxonomy. `?category=<name>` returns exactly those. Null for an `industry`.

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded. Retry after the number of seconds in the `Retry-After` response header.
