# Validate Schema

`POST /v1/graphs/schema/validate`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.robosystems.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.robosystems.ai/v1/graphs/schema/validate`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - HTTP bearer

Validates a custom schema definition before deployment — checks structure, types, constraints, and relationship references. Returns errors and warnings without applying changes. Supports JSON, YAML, and dict formats.

## Request body

- SchemaValidationRequest: Request model for schema validation.
  - `schema_definition` union, required: Schema definition as JSON dict or JSON/YAML string
    - object
    - string
  - `format` string: Schema format: json, yaml, or dict
  - `check_compatibility` string[], nullable: List of existing schema extensions to check compatibility with

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- SchemaValidationResponse: Response model for schema validation.
  - `valid` boolean, required: Whether the schema is valid
  - `message` string, required: Validation message
  - `errors` string[], nullable: List of validation errors (only present when valid=false)
  - `warnings` string[], nullable: List of validation warnings (schema is still valid but has potential issues)
  - `stats` object, nullable: Schema statistics (only present when valid=true)
  - `compatibility` object, nullable: Compatibility check results (only when check_compatibility specified)

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request
- `401`: Authentication required
- `403`: Access denied
- `404`: Resource not found
- `422`: Schema fails validation rules
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Internal server error
- `504`: Validation timed out
