# Connect or reconnect using a personal access token

`POST /connections/connect_via_pat`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.rhythms.ai`
- URL: `https://api.rhythms.ai/connections/connect_via_pat`
- Auth: none required

Validates connector-specific PAT fields and creates the current user's connection. When reconnect is true, replaces an existing healthy personal connection's credentials only after validation, preserving its UUID and existing credentials if validation fails. Requests without reconnect remain idempotent.

## Request body

- object
  - `app_type` string, required: PAT-capable connector connection type.
  - `connector_uuid` string: Connector UUID; required when multiple connectors have the same type.
  - `pat_fields` object: Credential values keyed by the connector's pat_required_fields names.
  - `reconnect` boolean: Replace credentials on the current user's existing healthy personal connection.
  - `entry_point` string: Surface initiating connector setup.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request - Invalid parameters or malformed request
- `401`: Unauthorized - Invalid or missing authentication
- `403`: Forbidden - User lacks permission to access this resource
- `404`: Not Found - Resource does not exist
- `422`: Unprocessable Entity - Invalid request parameters or validation errors
- `429`: Too Many Requests - Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Internal Server Error - Unexpected server error
