# Resolve, dismiss, or reassign an open work item. Items owned by a client alert or an assignment step are read-only here; assignees must be active coaches.

`PATCH /api/admin/work-items/{id}`

## Request

  - `status` 'resolved' | 'dismissed'
  - `assigneeId` object, nullable: A coach id to assign to, or null to unassign

## Other responses

- `400`: Nothing to update, or the assignee is not an active coach
- `409`: The item is owned by another flow (see readOnlyReason), or already closed
