# Start caller ID verification

`POST /v1/caller-ids`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.revdesk.com`
- URL: `https://api.revdesk.com/v1/caller-ids`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Initiates a call-based verification for the given phone number. The carrier calls the number and reads a verification code aloud to whoever answers. The code is held by the carrier and is never returned by this API — proving possession of the number is the point. Submit the code the owner heard via POST /v1/caller-ids/{id}/verify.
