# Delete an uploaded asset

`DELETE /assets/{id}`

## Request

- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer

Frees an asset slot. With an API key or an MCP/OAuth connector token only files created through the API can be deleted: a file uploaded by the user in the web UI is an original that may exist nowhere else, and deletion is permanent.

## Response `200`

Deleted

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing/invalid API key
- `403`: Uploaded through the web UI — not deletable with an API key or a connector token
- `404`: No such asset in this account
