# Start a 60-day trial with just an email

`POST /v1/trial`

## Request

Get a working key from an email alone - built for tools like n8n, where the user types an email into a credential and never copies a key.

Every endpoint is included for 60 days, then the key moves to the free plan. The key answers 403 `TRIAL_UNVERIFIED` until the emailed link is clicked. Asking again for the same email issues a new key (the old one stops working) and a new link, but never restarts the trial.

## Request body

- TrialRequest
  - `email` string, required: Your email. We send a confirmation link to it; nothing works until it is clicked.
  - `source` string, nullable: Where the request comes from, e.g. n8n.

## Response `201`

Successful Response

- TrialResponse
  - `status` string, required: `pending_verification` until the emailed link is clicked.
  - `api_key` string, required: Your key. Store it - it is not shown again and is never emailed.
  - `plan` string, required: `trial` for the first 60 days, `free` after it ends.
  - `trial_expires_at` string, nullable, required: When the trial ends and the key drops to the free plan.
  - `email` string, required: The address the link was sent to, masked.

## Other responses

- `409`: This email already has an API key - use it instead.
- `422`: Not a valid email address.
