# Change Member Role

`PATCH /workspaces/{workspace_id}/members/{user_id}`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Promote a member to admin, or demote an admin to member. Owner/admin only.

Never changes: the owner's role (ownership isn't transferable yet), anyone's
role *to* owner, or the caller's own role — leaving is the explicit way to
step back, and a self-demotion from this screen is almost always a misclick.
