# Ask for an account to be opened for a person (no API key)

`POST /signup-requests`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://realuptime.io/api/v1`
- URL: `https://realuptime.io/api/v1/signup-requests`
- Auth: none required

An AI agent asks RealUptime to open an account for a person's email address. The person gets one email, reviews the request, accepts the Terms and confirms they are at least 18, and presses Create account. The agent then collects one scoped API key from GET /signup-requests/{requestId}. The response is the same whether or not the address already has an account.

## Request body

- object
  - `email` string, required
  - `agentName` string
  - `product` 'status' | 'monitor' | 'errors'

## Response `202`

Accepted. Keep the pollToken: it is shown once and is the only way to collect the key.

- object
  - `requestId` string, required
  - `pollToken` string, required
  - `expiresAt` string, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Not JSON, a missing or undeliverable email, a disposable email domain, an agentName that is too long or contains a link, or an unknown product. - `RU-1010` Agent sign-up request refused: https://realuptime.io/kb/errors/ru-1010
- `429`: Too many requests from this network, or too many for this address. Retry-After says when to try again. - `RU-2011` Too many agent sign-up requests: https://realuptime.io/kb/errors/ru-2011
