# Change a planned article's own settings before it is written: length, tone, image style and custom instructions. Locked once writing starts.

`POST /api/v1/content/settings`

## Request

Requires the `write:content` scope.

## Request body

  - `contentId` string, required: Planned article id from list_content
  - `length` 'auto' | 'short' | 'medium' | 'long': auto (the article type's default), short (1,200–1,800 words), medium (2,000–2,800) or long (3,200–4,000)
  - `tone` 'default' | 'professional' | 'conversational' | 'technical' | 'friendly' | 'journalistic' | 'persuasive': One of the six brand tones, or default to follow your brand tone.
  - `imageStyle` 'default' | 'editorial' | 'cinematic' | 'documentary' | 'studio' | 'conceptual-metaphor' | 'editorial-illustration' | 'clay-3d' | 'isometric' | 'line-art-minimal' | 'dark-gradient-glass' | 'travel-poster' | 'watercolor-wash' | 'retro-futurism' | 'ukiyo-e' | 'paper-diorama' | 'gouache-metaphor' | 'minimalist' | 'riso-print' | 'pop-art' | 'corporate-flat' | 'memphis' | 'bauhaus-poster' | 'flat-vector' | 'cartoon-creator' | 'soft-anime': One of the 25 image styles, or default to use your workspace's image style.
  - `instructions` string: Applied when this article is written, on top of your workspace's article settings. Empty clears them.
