# Disable an API key

`DELETE /keys/{keyId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.rateapi.dev`
- URL: `https://api.rateapi.dev/keys/{keyId}`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Permanently disables an API key. This action cannot be undone. You can only disable your own API key.

**Authentication required**: Pass your API key in the `X-API-Key` header.

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: Not authorized to delete this key
