# Create BIN lookup

`POST /v1/bin_lookup`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sandbox.rainforestpay.com`
- URL: `https://api.sandbox.rainforestpay.com/v1/bin_lookup`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Retrieve information from the card's BIN, such as the card brand, card type, country, and other details.

This endpoint requires Rainforest approval. Platforms that meet all [requirements](doc:send-sensitive-data-via-api#requirements) and are approved by Rainforest can send the full card numbers to Rainforest via a server-to-serve direct API integration.

## Request body

- object
  - `billable_merchant_id` BillableMerchantId, required (unresolved $ref)
  - `card_number` string, required: The card number, formatted with no spaces (e.g 0000000000000000).

  - `data` object: The BIN lookup details.
    - `bin_lookup_id` string: The unique BIN lookup identifier. Prefix is "bin" in production and "sbx_bin" in sandbox.
    - `billable_merchant_id` BillableMerchantId (unresolved $ref)
    - `bin` string: The first 8 digits of the card number.
    - `brand` 'VISA' | 'MASTERCARD' | 'DISCOVER' | 'AMERICAN_EXPRESS' | 'OTHER': Card brand.
    - `type` 'CREDIT' | 'DEBIT' | 'PREPAID': Card type.
    - `last_4` string: The last 4 digits of the card number.
    - `country` string, nullable: 2-digit country code. Find country codes here: https://www.iso.org/obp
    - `is_business` boolean, nullable: Is a business card. Value of `true` / `false` indicates the classification was evaluated; `null` indicates it was not evaluated.
    - `is_healthcare` boolean, nullable: Is a healthcare card. Value of `true` / `false` indicates the classification was evaluated; `null` indicates it was not evaluated.
  - `errors` Errors (unresolved $ref)
