# Read the caller's transcription preferences

`GET /v1/desktop/preferences`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.quillhub.ai`
- URL: `https://api.quillhub.ai/v1/desktop/preferences`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Returns the user's persisted transcription preferences from the shared `transcription_settings` table. If no row exists yet (lazy-init pattern), returns the defaults so the client doesn't have to special-case first-touch.
