# Update application

`PATCH /gh/{ownerKeyOrId}/applications/{applicationIdOrName}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.qlty.sh`
- URL: `https://api.qlty.sh/gh/{ownerKeyOrId}/applications/{applicationIdOrName}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Update an Application's name and description. Omitted fields keep their current values; pass `description: null` to clear it. The Workspace must have Applications enabled.

## Path parameters

- `ownerKeyOrId` string, required: Repository owner name (login) or workspace ID
- `applicationIdOrName` string, required: Application ID or name

## Request body

- ApplicationUpdate
  - `name` string
  - `description` string, nullable

## Response `200`

The updated application

- ApplicationDefinition: An Application as defined for a Workspace, without computed fields such as projectCount
  - `id` string, required
  - `name` string, required
  - `description` string, nullable, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Not Found
- `409`: The name matches more than one application
- `429`: Rate Limit Exceeded
- `500`: Internal Server Error
