# Transfer business ownership

`POST /organization-roles/{organization_role_id}/transfer-ownership`

- Auth: HTTP bearer

This cannot be undone from this call. The target accepted member becomes
the owner and the caller's own role is demoted to `manager`, in one
transaction, so there is never a two-owner or zero-owner window. Only an
owner of the business may call this. The target role must be accepted
with a user attached, must not already be an owner, and must not be the
caller's own role.

## Other responses

- `401`: Unauthenticated
- `403`: Forbidden — caller is not an owner of the organization.
- `404`: Not Found
- `422`: Target role is not transferable (pending invite, already owner, or the caller's own role).
