# Start asset verification

`POST /api/v1/verify/request/{id}/assets/{assetIndex}/start`

Start verification for a specific asset within a verification request. Sets the HttpOnly `__Host-proof_verifier` cookie and binds a phone, domain or bot verification to this browser; an emailed challenge binds to the browser that completes it.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required: MongoDB ObjectId
- `assetIndex` string, required: Asset index (0-based)

## Request body

- StartAssetVerificationRequest: Request body for starting asset verification in a verification request
  - `channel` 'telegram' | 'whatsapp' | 'sms' | 'email' | 'dns' | 'http' | 'telegram_bot_token', required
  - `identifier` string: Required if asset identifier is null
  - `bot_token` string: Required for telegram_bot_token channel

- `400`: Validation error, `identifier_mismatch` — the supplied address is not at the requested domain, or the bot token belongs to a different bot — or `request_cancelled` — the verification request has been cancelled
