# Request a confirmation link for the free Probable daily edition

`POST /api/subscribe`

## Request

Double opt-in. The address is stored as pending and receives one transactional confirmation email; nothing is delivered until the emailed link is used. The response is the same whether the address is new, pending, already confirmed, previously unsubscribed, or rate limited. Requires a same-origin request.

  - `placement` string: Capture location for attribution, lowercase letters, digits, hyphen, and underscore.

Request accepted without revealing subscription state

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid or oversized request
- `403`: Cross-origin request
- `503`: Confirmation email is temporarily unavailable
