# Create a new project

`POST /v1/integration/continuous/projects`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://integration-adapter.connect.cloud.precisely.com`
- URL: `https://integration-adapter.connect.cloud.precisely.com/v1/integration/continuous/projects`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Creates a new continuous data integration project with the specified name and parameters.

**Process Overview:**
1. **Validation** - Verifies project name format and checks for existing project
2. **Project Creation** - Creates new project with REPLICATION type
3. **Response** - Returns project ID with HTTP 201 status and Location header

**Project Name Constraints:**
- Must contain only letters, numbers, periods, underscores, and hyphens
- Must not be blank
- Must be unique (ProjectAlreadyExistsException thrown if exists)

**Description:**
- Optional description can be provided for project context
- Description will be associated with the created project

**Required Permissions:** `replication-pipeline::create` when permission harmonization is enabled; otherwise, `replication-pipeline::manage`.

## Request body

- CreateProjectRequest: Request payload for creating a new Continuous Data Integration Project
  - `name` string, required: The name of the project to be created. A project is a container for continuous data integration pipelines.
  - `description` string: Optional description of the data integration project

## Response `201`

Project successfully created

- CreateContinuousProjectResponse: Response containing the created project's ID
  - `id` string: ID of the created project. This identifier can be used to query the project status, modify its configuration, or manage its pipelines.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request - Validation failed due to one of the following reasons: - Missing or blank project name - Invalid project name format (must contain only letters, numbers, periods, underscores, and hyphens)
- `401`: Unauthorized - Authentication required, valid credentials not provided
- `403`: Forbidden - User lacks the required 'replication-pipeline::create' or legacy 'replication-pipeline::manage' permission
- `409`: Conflict - Project with the specified name already exists. Cannot create a duplicate project.
- `500`: Internal Server Error - Server encountered an unexpected condition, such as: - Project creation failure (ProjectUpsertFailedException) - Service unavailability - Internal processing failures
