# Delete a project by ID

`DELETE /v1/integration/continuous/projects/{projectId}`

## Request

Deletes a project by its ID with comprehensive cleanup options.
This operation can be performed synchronously or asynchronously depending on the `configOnly` flag.

**Process Overview:**
- **Validation Phase**: Validates project existence and user permissions
- **Pre-deletion Operations** (when `configOnly` is false):
  - Disables data capture for all pipelines (if `operations.disableCaptures` is true)
  - Clears pending backlogs (if `operations.clearBacklogs` is true)
  - Stops log reader processes (if `operations.stopLogReaders` is true)
  - Deletes log readers (if `operations.deleteLogReaders` is true)
  - Deletes associated metabases (if `operations.deleteMetabases.enabled` is true using provided details)
- **Pipeline Deletion**: Deletes all pipelines within the project
- **Project Deletion**: Removes project configuration from Data Integrity Suite

**Execution Modes:**
- **Synchronous**: For simple deletions (configOnly=true)
- **Asynchronous**: For complex deletions requiring extensive cleanup operations

**Configuration Only Deletion (`configOnly: true`):**
**Use with extreme caution** - This mode only removes project configuration and skips all cleanup operations.
- Cannot be undone - backup strongly recommended
- Manual cleanup of runtime processes, metabases, and log readers will be required

**Key Considerations:**
- Monitor deletion progress using the endpoint returned in the `Location` header for 202 responses

**Required Permissions:** `replication-pipeline::delete` when permission harmonization is enabled; otherwise, `replication-pipeline::manage`.

## Request body

- DeleteProjectRequest: Request payload for deleting a project. This includes flags for optional pre-requisite operations.
  - `configOnly` boolean: Flag to indicate whether to delete only the project configuration. When set to true, all other operations will be skipped.
  - `operations` DeletionOperations, required: Operations to perform during project deletion
    - `disableCaptures` boolean: Flag to indicate whether to disable data capture for each pipeline
    - `clearBacklogs` boolean: Flag to indicate whether to clear any pending backlog for each pipeline
    - `stopLogReaders` boolean: Flag to indicate whether to stop log reader processes associated with each pipeline
    - `deleteLogReaders` boolean: Flag to indicate whether to delete log reader for each pipeline
    - `deleteMetabases` MetabaseDeletionOptions, required: Options for deleting metabases
      - `enabled` boolean: Flag to indicate whether to delete metabases
      - `metabaseDetails` MetabaseDeletionDetails[]: List of metabase deletion details
        - `name` string, required: Name of the metabase
        - `adminUser` string, required: Admin user for the metabase
        - `adminPassword` string: Admin user password for the metabase
        - `vaultConnectionId` string: Vault connection ID for the metabase

## Response `202`

Project deletion initiated successfully. Use the Location header to monitor progress.

## Other responses

- `204`: Project deleted successfully.
- `400`: Invalid request payload.
- `401`: Unauthorized - Authentication required, valid credentials not provided
- `403`: Forbidden - User lacks the required 'replication-pipeline::delete' or legacy 'replication-pipeline::manage' permission
- `404`: Project not found.
- `500`: Internal Server Error - Unexpected server error during deletion.
