# Parse the personal and business names

`POST /v1/names/parse`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.cloud.precisely.com`
- URL: `https://api.cloud.precisely.com/v1/names/parse`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `Authorization`

This endpoint will parse the personal and business names and other terms in the name data field into their component parts. These parsed name elements are then subsequently available to other automated operations such as name matching, name standardization, or multiple-record name consolidation.

## Request body

- InputData: Input data for the Name Parser API, containing the name to be parsed and optional parsing configurations.
  - `name` string, required: The full name that needs to be parsed. It cannot be null or blank.
  - `options` Options: Options are required only if parsing results need to be changed according to the data.
    - `parseNaturalOrderPersonalNames` boolean: Specifies whether to parse names where the name is in the order Title, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, and Suffix
    - `parseReverseOrderPersonalNames` boolean: Specifies whether to parse names where the last name is specified first.
    - `parseConjoinedNames` boolean: Specifies whether to parse conjoined names or separate names containing more than one individual into multiple records, for example, Bill & Sally Smith
    - `parseBusinessNames` boolean: Specifies whether to parse business names.

- NameParserResponse: Response object for the Name Parser API containing the parsing results.
  - `response` Response, required: Response object containing the status of the request and the parsed name result.
    - `status` 'OK' | 'ZERO_RESULTS', required: Represents the status of a response
    - `result` ParsedName: Parsed name information containing personal and firm name details.
      - `accountDescription` string: Account description related to the name.
      - `names` string: Full name in the input.
      - `parsedAs` string: Specifies how the input name was parsed (e.g., 'personal' or 'firm').
      - `firmConjunction` string: Conjunction for firm names (if any).
      - `firmName` string: Identified firm name.
      - `firmSuffix` string: Corporate suffix for the firm (e.g., Inc., LLC).
      - `isFirm` string: Indicates if the input name was parsed as a firm.
      - `conjunction` string: Conjunction for personal names
      - `cultureCode` string: Culture code
      - `cultureCodeUsedToParse` string: Culture code used to parse the name.
      - `firstName` string: The first name identified for a person in the input.
      - `generalSuffix` string: General suffix
      - `isParsed` string, required: Flag indicating whether the name was parsed.
      - `isPersonal` string: Specifies if the input name was parsed as a person.
      - `isReverseOrder` string: Indicates if the name is in reverse order (e.g., Last Name, First Name).
      - `lastName` string: Last name identified for a person in the input.
      - `leadingData` string: Leading data
      - `maturitySuffix` string: Suffix for the person (e.g., Jr., Sr.).
      - `middleName` string: Middle name identified for a person in the input.
      - `name` string, required: Full name in the input.
      - `parsingScore` string, required: Confidence score for name parsing (0-100).
      - `secondaryLastName` string: Secondary last name if identified.
      - `titleOfRespect` string: Honorific title identified for the person.
      - `trailingData` string: Trailing data in the input.
      - `conjunction2` string: Conjunction between the second and third name.
      - `conjunction3` string: Conjunction between the third and fourth name.
      - `firmName2` string: Name of the second firm in conjoined names
      - `firmSuffix2` string: Suffix for the second firm in conjoined names
      - `firstName2` string: First name for the second individual in conjoined names
      - `firstName3` string: First name for the third individual in conjoined names
      - `generalSuffix2` string: General suffix for the second individual in conjoined names
      - `generalSuffix3` string: General suffix for the third individual in conjoined names
      - `isConjoined` string: Indicates if the input name is a conjoined name
      - `lastName2` string: Last name for the second individual in conjoined names
      - `lastName3` string: Last name for the third individual in conjoined names
      - `maturitySuffix2` string: Maturity suffix for the second individual in conjoined names
      - `maturitySuffix3` string: Maturity suffix for the third individual in conjoined names
      - `middleName2` string: Middle name for the second individual in conjoined names
      - `middleName3` string: Middle name for the third individual in conjoined names
      - `titleOfRespect2` string: Title of respect for the second individual in conjoined names
      - `titleOfRespect3` string: Title of respect for the third individual in conjoined names
