# Discard a draft

`DELETE /api/v1/drafts/{id}`

## Request

Soft-deletes a non-terminal draft. Requires `can_send`. Returns `204` on success; `409` if the draft is already sending/sent/rejected.

- `id` string, required

## Response `204`

Draft discarded (no content).

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid bearer token, or a key whose scope is not permitted for this endpoint.
- `403`: Key cannot send (`code:key_scope`).
- `404`: Draft not found (missing, cross-account, cross-mailbox for a bound key, or tombstoned). Byte-identical for every case (anti-enumeration).
- `409`: Draft can no longer be deleted (already sending or terminal).
