# Delete post

`DELETE /api/v1/posts/{id}`

## Request

Removes a post record and cancels queued publishing. Publishing and processing posts are refused. Published posts require delete_mode=posterly for local-only removal, or delete_mode=platform with confirm_published=true for live deletion. Eligible platforms require the original account, a saved post ID and deletion permissions. A failure keeps the record. Legacy confirm_published=true implies platform mode.

  - `platform_delete` 'not_published' | 'not_requested' | 'deleted' | 'no_live_target', required: not_published: no live post. not_requested: explicit local-only removal. deleted: the platform acknowledged deletion. no_live_target: no saved live target; only the posterly record was removed.

## Other responses

- `400`: Cannot delete a post that is currently publishing
- `401`: Invalid or missing API key
- `404`: Resource not found
- `409`: Deletion intent or confirmation required, post changed, or deletion already in progress
- `422`: Platform take-down is not supported, or the token cannot delete the live post. The posterly row is kept.
- `429`: Too many requests
- `502`: The platform delete failed. The posterly row is kept.
