# Answer a pending request

`POST /v1/runs/{runID}/inputs/{toolCallID}`

## Request

The assignee or account owner may answer. Other members may answer after the account assignment timeout. Viewers cannot answer. Grants and secret answers are owner-only. AI clients can deny approvals or answer ordinary questions, but cannot approve actions or grant consent. Follow run_id for the continuation. If continuation_pending is true, read the paused run until continuation_run_id appears.

  - `approved` boolean, nullable: Required and non-null for an approval card. True approves. False denies.
  - `value` unknown
  - `note` string
  - `always_allow` boolean: Standing grant. Owner-only and unavailable to AI clients, even when the field is false.
  - `scope` '' | 'thread': Thread grant. Owner-only and unavailable to AI clients, even when the field is empty. Cannot combine thread scope with always_allow.
  - `max_turn_seconds` integer: Optional wall-clock budget for the continuation run.

## Response `200`

Request already answered. No second continuation starts.

  - `continuation_error` string: Recorded reason for a delayed or failed continuation.

## Other responses

- `202`: Answer recorded. The continuation run id is present when it starts.
- `400`: Malformed request.
- `401`: Missing or invalid credential.
- `402`: Continuation admission refused for insufficient credits, an account spend cap or member_spend_limit. The member cap uses code, error and detail.
- `403`: Viewer, assignment, owner or credential restriction. not_assignee names the assignee and open_to_members_at in the error and detail text.
- `404`: No such resource.
- `409`: Request cancelled or expired, session unavailable, conversation already running, or paused Workspace files still saving.
- `429`: Continuation cannot start because of capacity or concurrency limits.
- `500`: Internal error with request_id.
- `501`: Run orchestration is not configured.
- `503`: Workspace storage is unavailable.
