# Side-by-side player comparison

`GET /v1/players/compare`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.playcallerapp.com`
- URL: `https://api.playcallerapp.com/v1/players/compare`
- Auth: API key in header `X-PlayCaller-Key`

Returns a side-by-side comparison of two players — identity, active injury signals, anomaly/heat score, and last 5 games of stats. Use for start/sit decisions, trade analysis, or DFS lineup construction.

**Tier access:** Developer Sandbox, Build, Growth, Pro Insights, Syndicate Alpha

## Query parameters

- `player1` string, required
- `player2` string, required
- `sport` 'nfl' | 'mlb' | 'nba'

## Response `200`

Side-by-side player profiles

- object
  - `success` boolean
  - `player1` object: Profile for player1 — identity, injury signals, anomaly score, and recent game stats
  - `player2` object: Profile for player2 — same shape as player1
  - `meta` ResponseMeta
    - `sport` string
    - `league` string: Present on multi-sport (ESPN-backed) endpoints; mirrors sport unless a sport has sub-leagues (e.g. soccer: epl/mls).
    - `tier` string
    - `calls_remaining_this_month` integer
    - `documentation_url` string, uri

## Other responses

- `400`: player1 and player2 query params are required
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `429`: Rate limit or monthly quota exceeded
- `500`: Internal server error
