A jurisdiction's `id` stays the same when its name or boundary changes. The boundary is included with `include=geometry` or `format=geojson`. ## Path parameters - `jurisdiction_id` string, required: Unique identifier for the jurisdiction. ## Query parameters - `include` string, nullable: Comma-separated sections to include. One of `geometry` (the boundary, as GeoJSON). - `format` 'json' | 'geojson': Response format. One of `json` (the object) or `geojson` (a Feature). Defaults to `json`. `Accept: application/geo+json` also selects `geojson`. ## Response `200` The jurisdiction. - Jurisdiction: A state, county, city or town. - `object` 'jurisdiction', required: The object's type. Always `jurisdiction`. - `id` string, required: A jurisdiction id. - `name` string, required: The jurisdiction's common name. - `legal_name` string, nullable, required: Legal name. Null when the same as `name`. - `type` string, required: Kind of jurisdiction, in local terms, such as `county`, `parish`, `city` or `town`. - `tier` 'national' | 'region' | 'subregion' | 'local', required: Level of government. One of `national`, `region` (a state or province), `subregion` (a county or district) or `local` (a city, town, village or township). - `country` string, required: ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code. - `lifecycle_status` string, required: Lifecycle status. One of `active`, `dissolved`, `merged` or `renamed`. - `fips` Fips, required: A Census GEOID and its parts. - `level` 'state' | 'county' | 'county_subdivision' | 'place', required: Census level. One of `state`, `county`, `county_subdivision` or `place`. - `code` string, required: Full GEOID, such as `37`, `37183` or `3755000`. - `state` string, required: Two-digit state FIPS code. - `county` string, nullable: Five-digit county FIPS code. Null for a state or a place. - `identifiers` JurisdictionIdentifier[], required: Every identifier, ordered by scheme. - `scheme` string, required: Identifier scheme. One of `census_geoid`, `census_geoid_fq` or `gnis`. - `value` string, required: The identifier, formatted for its scheme. - `within` JurisdictionWithin[], required: The jurisdictions that contain this one, largest first. - `id` string, required: A jurisdiction id. - `name` string, required: The jurisdiction's common name. - `tier` 'national' | 'region' | 'subregion' | 'local', required: Level of government. One of `national`, `region` (a state or province), `subregion` (a county or district) or `local` (a city, town, village or township). - `type` string, required: Kind of jurisdiction, in local terms, such as `county`, `parish`, `city` or `town`. - `fips` string, nullable: The Census GEOID. Null outside the US. - `partial` boolean, required: Whether the jurisdiction lies only partly inside the containing one. - `land_area_m2` integer, nullable, required: Land area, in square meters. Null when not published. - `water_area_m2` integer, nullable, required: Water area, in square meters. Null when not published. - `centroid` Centroid, required: A point inside the boundary. - `lat` number, required: Latitude, in WGS 84. - `lon` number, required: Longitude, in WGS 84. - `coverage` Coverage, required: Data available for a jurisdiction, by kind of record. - `parcel` Held: Record count and freshness for one kind of record. - `records` integer, required: Number of records for the jurisdiction and every jurisdiction within it. - `as_of` string, date, required: The most recent `as_of` among those records. - `zoning` Held: Record count and freshness for one kind of record. - `records` integer, required: Number of records for the jurisdiction and every jurisdiction within it. - `as_of` string, date, required: The most recent `as_of` among those records. - `permit` Held: Record count and freshness for one kind of record. - `records` integer, required: Number of records for the jurisdiction and every jurisdiction within it. - `as_of` string, date, required: The most recent `as_of` among those records. - `case` Held: Record count and freshness for one kind of record. - `records` integer, required: Number of records for the jurisdiction and every jurisdiction within it. - `as_of` string, date, required: The most recent `as_of` among those records. - `statistics` Statistics, required: Figures computed from the records held for a jurisdiction. - `parcel` ParcelStatistics: Figures computed from the parcels held for a county. - `parcels` integer, required: Number of parcels the figures are computed from. - `median_market_value` integer, nullable: Median total market value, in US dollars. Null when no parcel has one. - `median_acres` number, nullable: Median parcel size, in acres. Null when no parcel has a boundary. - `median_year_built` integer, nullable: Median year the main building was built. Null when no parcel has one. - `sales_last_year` integer, required: Number of parcels whose most recent sale was in the 365 days before `computed`. - `median_sale_price` integer, nullable: Median price of those sales, in US dollars. Null when none has a price. - `land_use` LandUseCount[], required: Parcels by standard land use category, most first. Parcels with no standard land use are not counted. - `category` string, required: Standard land use category, such as `residential`, `commercial` or `vacant`. - `parcels` integer, required: Number of parcels in the category. - `computed` string, date, required: Date the figures were computed. They are computed again each day. - `geometry` Geometry, required: A GeoJSON geometry in WGS 84, longitude first. - `type` string, required: Geometry type. One of `Polygon` or `MultiPolygon`. - `coordinates` unknown[], required: Coordinates, as `[longitude, latitude]` positions nested by geometry type. - unknown - `href` string, required: The object's path in the API. ## Other responses - `401`: `credential_missing`, `credential_invalid` or `credential_expired`. The request has no valid credential. - `403`: `scope_missing`, `person_required`, `api_key_not_accepted` or `entitlement_missing`. The credential or plan does not allow this request. `detail` names the reason. - `404`: `no_such_resource`. No jurisdiction has this id. - `422`: `parameter_invalid`, `id_malformed` or a cursor code. A parameter is missing or invalid. `errors` lists each one. - `429`: `rate_limited`. Too many requests. Retry after the `Retry-After` interval. Nothing is charged. - `501`: `not_available`.
