# Change spend caps (dashboard session only)

`PATCH /v1/credits/settings`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.placementapi.com`
- URL: `https://api.placementapi.com/v1/credits/settings`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

NOT available to API keys: a key that could raise its own cap would not be a cap. Returns 403 `forbidden` for any Bearer key. Null clears a cap; an omitted field is left alone. Auto-reload needs both threshold and amount, or neither, and amount must exceed threshold.

## Request body

- object
  - `per_order_max_credits` integer, nullable
  - `daily_max_credits` integer, nullable
  - `auto_reload_threshold_credits` integer, nullable
  - `auto_reload_amount_credits` integer, nullable

## Response `200`

OK

- object
  - `limits` object
  - `auto_reload` object
    - `threshold_credits` integer, nullable
    - `amount_credits` integer, nullable

## Other responses

- `400`: Malformed request. `error` is `bad_request` (with a zod `detail`), `invalid_json`, or `unknown_parameter` / `unknown_field` (with `unknown[]` and `accepted[]`).
- `401`: Missing, malformed or revoked Bearer credential: `{ error: "unauthorized" }`.
- `403`: `forbidden`: API keys cannot change spend limits.
- `503`: `server_misconfigured` when the store is not configured; `upstream_unfunded` when the measurement provider's prepaid balance is exhausted (fresh profiles, gap maps and SERPs pause; cached results and catalogue are unaffected); `upstream_unavailable` on a provider error; `payments_unavailable` when card payments are not configured.
