# End the browser session

`POST /v1/auth/logout`

## Request

Public and idempotent: deletes the browser session row and expires its cookie in one call, so a stale or already-ended cookie is cleared rather than left live. A Bearer API key without a session cookie has nothing to end. A present `Origin` header that is not the request's own is refused (403 `forbidden`) before anything is deleted.

- `403`: `forbidden`: cross-origin request.
- `503`: `server_misconfigured` when the store is not configured; `upstream_unfunded` when the measurement provider's prepaid balance is exhausted (fresh profiles, gap maps and SERPs pause; cached results and catalogue are unaffected); `upstream_unavailable` on a provider error; `payments_unavailable` when card payments are not configured.
