# List business categories

`GET /v1/businesscategories`

## Request

Retrieves the list of business categories for merchants.

## Query parameters

- `page` integer
- `perPage` integer
- `externalCode` string, required

- GETBusinessCategoryResponse
  - `has_next` boolean: Indicates whether there are more pages after the current one.
  - `per_page` integer: Number of items per page
  - `current_page` integer: Current page number
  - `items` BusinessCategory[]: Items
    - `org_id` string: Organization/tenant ID
    - `business_category_id` string: Business category ID
    - `external_code` string: Code for merchant category. The category is the type of business. You can use the endpoint <a href="https://developers.pismo.io/pismo-docs/reference/get_v1-businesscategories">Retrieves business categories corresponding to query parameters</a> to get a list of business categories and their external codes.
    - `category` string: Business category name
    - `description` string: Business category description

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Access token is missing or invalid
- `500`: Internal server error
