# Block/unblock banking asset

`POST /v1/issuer/{issuer_id}/assets/{asset_id}/block`

Block or unblock a banking asset

If the request succeeds, this endpoint generates an [Asset blocked](https://developers.pismo.io/events/docs/assets-asset-block-1) event;
otherwise, generates an [Asset block failed](https://developers.pismo.io/events/docs/assets-asset-block-failure-1) event.

- `assetId` string, required

## Request body

- AssetBlock
  - `units` integer, required: Number of asset units
  - `document_number` string, required: Cardholder government document number. This can be from any document that identifies the cardholder such as a Tax ID, State ID, or driver's license.
  - `status` 'BLOCK' | 'UNBLOCK': Asset block status
  - `external_id` string: Provider-generated unique ID for client monitoring and tracking
  - `reason` string: Reason asset was blocked

## Response `202`

ACCEPTED

- 202AssetBlockedResponse (unresolved $ref)

- `400`: Bad request
- `401`: Access token is missing or invalid
- `404`: Not Found
- `500`: Internal server error
