# Delete connector instance

`DELETE /connectors/{connectorId}`

## Request

Start the deletion of a connector instance and all associated data.<br><br>
<b>Asynchronous:</b><br>
The request is answered with <code>202</code> as soon as the instance is
marked <code>DELETING</code>; its sync is stopped and its records,
vectors and configuration are removed in the background.<br><br>
<b>Permissions:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>The creator can delete their own instance</li>
<li>An org admin can delete any instance, including another user's
personal one (which the admin cannot read)</li>
<li>Anyone else gets <code>404</code></li>
</ul>
<b>In use:</b><br>
Refused with <code>409</code> while an agent uses the instance as a
knowledge source.

## Response `202`

Deletion accepted. The connector is marked `DELETING` and removed in
the background, so a `GET` shortly afterwards answers `404`.

## Other responses

- `400`: `connectorId` is not 1-64 characters of letters, digits, `_` or `-` (`VALIDATION_ERROR`), or is not a safe path segment (for example it contains an encoded `/`; `HTTP_BAD_REQUEST`, answered before the token is checked). Also returned, before authentication, when a query value, or any string in a JSON or form-encoded body, looks like markup to the app-wide XSS filter: an HTML tag, a script tag, `<iframe`, `<object`, `<embed` or `<svg` tag, a word starting with `on` followed by `=` (meant for inline event handlers such as `onerror=`, it also catches plain text such as `one=1`), a `javascript:` or `data:text/html` URL, an encoded script tag (`&lt;script`, `%3cscript`), or any string longer than 100,000 characters (`HTTP_BAD_REQUEST`, "HTML tags, scripts, and XSS content are not allowed in ...", naming the field or query parameter; a string over 100,000 characters is refused as too long instead). A JSON body that does not parse is refused the same way, also before authentication (`HTTP_BAD_REQUEST`, "The request body is not valid JSON.").
- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials
- `403`: The OAuth client's token lacks the `connector:delete` scope. Also returned for an instance of a beta connector type (Calendar, Meet, Forms, Slides, Docs, Zendesk, Airtable) while the platform feature flag `ENABLE_BETA_CONNECTORS` is off (the default), with the message `Beta connectors are not enabled. The connector '<type>' is a beta connector and cannot be accessed. ...`
- `404`: The connector doesn't exist (or was already deleted), or the caller is neither its creator nor an admin. The two answers are the same, so the route doesn't reveal connectors the caller can't delete.
- `409`: The connector cannot be deleted now: an agent uses it as a knowledge source (the message names the agents), its deletion is already in progress, or another operation such as a sync holds it locked.
- `500`: Internal server error. A JSON body larger than 10 MB, or a form-encoded body larger than 100 KB or with more than 1000 fields, is answered `413` by the app-wide body parsers instead, also before authentication.
