# Create bank account verification request

`POST /merchants/{merchantId}/banv`

Start a bank account verification request.

## Path parameters

- `merchantId` string, required: A unique merchant ID provided by Peach Payments in hexadecimal format.

## Request body

- BankAccountVerificationRequest: All the details required for a bank account verification request.
  - `accountNumber` string, required
  - `accountType` 'current_cheque_account' | 'savings_account' | 'transmission_account' | 'bond_account' | 'subscription_share' | 'unknown', required
  - `branchCode` string, required
  - `idNumber` string, required: SAID number, passport number, or **company registration number**. The API strips any '/' or '\\' characters before processing.
  - `initials` string
  - `lastName` string

## Response `200`

The bank account verification request was received and will be processed.

- BankAccountVerificationRequestAcknowledgement: An acknowledgement that the bank account verification request was received and will be processed.
  - `message` string, required
  - `bankVerificationId` string, required: A valid v4 UUID expressed in lowercase with dashes.
  - `status` 'pending' | 'processing' | 'successful' | 'failed', required: The current status of the bank account verification request.
  - `resultCode` string, string, required: The result code indicating the status or error of the payout.

## Other responses

- `400`: There was an error with the request. Please fix the request and try again.
- `401`: The request is not authenticated. Please re-authenticate and provide a new token.
- `403`: The request is not authorised. Please contact your business administrator.
