# Create a category

`POST /v1/categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://orders-api.paymongo.com`
- URL: `https://orders-api.paymongo.com/v1/categories`
- Auth: HTTP basic

Creates a menu category. location_slug is optional (omit for org-level).

## Request body

- CreateCategoryRequestDTO
  - `location_slug` string: optional; omit for org-level
  - `name` string, required
  - `sort_order` integer
