# Create an inventory item

`POST /v1/inventory_items`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP basic

Create a stock record for a variant at a warehouse. on_hand defaults to zero; a non-zero initial on_hand writes a correction movement.

## Request body

- CreateItemRequestDTO: Item to create; on_hand defaults to zero
  - `on_hand` integer
  - `variant_id` string, required
  - `warehouse_id` string, required
