# Delete a folder

`DELETE /v1/folders/{folderId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.payaion.com`
- URL: `https://api.payaion.com/v1/folders/{folderId}`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-Aion-Key`
  - HTTP bearer

Deletes the folder and its subfolders. **No file is deleted** — the files
inside fall back to the storage root, keeping their share links, prices
and expiry. Removing a file from storage is a separate call
(`/v1/upload/{uploadId}/delete`).

## Path parameters

- `folderId` string, uuid, required

## Response `200`

Folder deleted, files kept

  - `ok` boolean
  - `folderId` string
  - `filesKept` boolean: Always true — deleting a folder never removes a file

## Other responses

- `401`: Invalid or missing credentials
- `403`: Scope denied or access forbidden
- `404`: Resource not found
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
