# A shared folder file's preview image (public, by capability token + locator)

`GET /v1/shared-folders/{token}/files/thumbnail`

OUR re-encoded preview of one file in a shared folder. Supports If-None-Match.

## Path parameters

- `token` string, required: The share link's capability token.

## Query parameters

- `locator` string, required: A file's opaque locator.

## Response `200`

The server-generated preview image.

## Other responses

- `202`: No preview yet; generation is queued. Ask again shortly.
- `304`: Unchanged — the ETag the client holds is still current.
- `404`: No shared file for that link, or it will never have a preview.
- `422`: Validation Error
