# A shared file's preview image (public, by capability token)

`GET /v1/shared-assets/{token}/thumbnail`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.patricia.app` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.patricia.app/v1/shared-assets/{token}/thumbnail`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - none

A small server-generated WebP preview of the file behind one share link, for the page the link opens. No sign-in. Answers 202 while a preview is being prepared, and 404 when the link is unknown, revoked or expired, when the file was deleted, or when this file will never have a preview. Supports `If-None-Match` with the returned ETag.

## Path parameters

- `token` string, required: The share link's capability token.

## Query parameters

- `access_acknowledgement` string, uuid, nullable: A UUID for one deliberate private-file opening. Reuse across requests for the same opening.

## Headers

- `X-Share-Grant` string, nullable

## Response `200`

The server-generated preview image.

## Other responses

- `202`: No preview yet; generation is queued. Ask again shortly.
- `304`: Unchanged — the ETag the client holds is still current.
- `401`: A password grant is required.
- `403`: PRIVATE_ASSET_ACKNOWLEDGEMENT_REQUIRED: a workspace owner or admin must confirm a deliberate opening of a teammate's private file.
- `404`: No shared file for that link, or it will never have a preview.
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: The address request ceiling is reached.
- `503`: The private access audit or file storage is unavailable.
