# Deactivate selected members

`POST /v1/members/deactivations`

Soft-deactivate each eligible selected member.

- MemberDeactivationRequest: The exact memberships selected for bulk removal.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- MemberDeactivationResponse: Ordered bulk-removal outcomes and their counts. Carries the same two credential counts as :class:`MemberRemovalResponse`, and for the same reason: a departing member's personal connections go with them, and a token they pasted can only be rotated at the server that issued it. Removing several members at once is where the most credentials leave at once, so telling the admin here matters more than on the single-member route, not less. Batch TOTALS rather than per-member figures. What the admin has to act on is "some of what just left cannot be revoked from here", which is a property of the batch; attributing a count to each membership would put a number next to people who connected nothing, and the per-member breakdown belongs to the connection list rather than to a removal receipt.
